In my penultimate post I had anticipated that I would soon be described my character in D & D. But then I realized that it is impossible to speak without first explain what 's alignment. E 'feature that summarizes, through well-defined charges, the moral attitude, ethical and psychological character. The alignment can be an essential part of role-playing, considering this game as an exploration of the themes of good and evil. It is generally accepted, however, consider a simple track alignment from which to develop a real " background " that best expresses all facets of the character and psychology to interpret in a non-stereotypical.
The possible alignments and arrive at nine revolve around the two dichotomies of "good / evil" and "law / chaos" and express as the character is placed in relation to ethical laws, conventions and traditions.
- Lawful Good (LB): the Crusader , the defender of the weak and the righter of wrongs, the hero par excellence. Search with all his strength to do good, but hardly will challenge laws or hierarchy in which it resides. It tells the truth, keeps his word and help the needy, and always fight evil relentlessly, his biggest moral dilemma is when to break the law to defend the most vulnerable (to save an innocent person is punished by a government that otherwise impeccable or steal to feed a child dies of hunger would put him in big trouble). A typical example is that of the paladin who follows a strict morality.
- Neutral Good (NB): The Benefactor , always does his best to help others within the limits of its possibilities. Feels better in providing aid to the needy, working with rulers and guardians of happy, but feels no connection to them. This is actually the character dominated more by the "unconditional good" because her instinct to do good is unlikely to be hindered by anything (for example more targeted Neutral good is likely to save the innocent and steal to feed the child in the previous example).
- Chaotic Good (CB): The Rebel , following only his own benevolent conscience, without worrying about what others expect from him, even if it means breaking one or more laws that seem unfair to him . Follows the life of the outlaw, but still managed to be polite and well prepared. He hates when someone wants to intimidate or impose its own rules on others. It is an anarchist voted for the good, the Robin Hood game.
- Lawful Neutral (LN): The Judge, acting as suggested by the laws, traditions or his personal code of honor. The order and organization are of vital importance to him, or because he believes in his own order and then live according to a precise code, or collective order and takes part in highly organized systems of government.
- Pure Neutral (N) 's Undecided , always behaves according to his instinct and knowledge, without coercion or prejudice. Consider the greater good of evil, but does not feel obliged to pursue good in a universal way, the Neutrals pure and druids are only in their particular viewpoint neutrality is interpreted as an extension of natural law (the lion to survive to kill the gazelle; he does not sadism, it is his nature). E ', for the purpose of the game, a character generally difficult to interpret.
- Chaotic Neutral (CN): The Free Spirit , the ultimate individualist, who rails against the traditions and laws just because they limit his personal freedom. You can never tell what will or will cause such damage, since his actions are governed only the mood of the moment. A classic example is the rowdy end in itself, absolutely no respect for law and society. He lives only to seek his own personal pleasure, often by his small gesture can generate much suffering but is not totally devoid of compassion.
- lawful evil (LM): The Vanquisher , the embodiment of tyranny, is eager to do evil because the Crusaders are doing good, respects and idolizes the order, hierarchy, tradition and discipline and its code moral, coming to judge others solely on the basis of these rules. An example would be a mercenary army officer with a great sense of honor and hierarchy that never betrays its own buddy yet completely devoid of scruples in killing women and children gestures as if he were ordered (or If the command, may agree).
- Neutral Evil (NM): The Criminal , do anything allowing him to gain, without any remorse or hesitation on the ground to inflict pain on others, provided always manages to get by. He does not believe in the order just because they do not believe in the chaos following the one or the other depending on where his personal gain. It is one of the alignments are easier to interpret but that does not mean it is trivial, just what is in front of an event boasts the widest range of plausible behavior.
- Chaotic Evil (CM): The Destroyer , the psychotic murderess who indulges in outbursts of uncontrolled rage, without any remorse of conscience. His personality is unstable and trust than he can be lethal: whatever happens, will always try to preserve itself. Has no respect for peers and for their lives, has to commit murder and does not know what piety is the most common alignment between the monsters (the antagonists of the players). In addition, there is no "brotherhood" between the chaotic evil characters between them (which however can be said more or less for all other alignments).
